Fat Bike Grooming Report

PEARRYGIN AREA report 3/23/23

The calendar says it's spring and the weather does too.  We've reached the end of another season of grooming winter trails in the Pearrygin Lake area and wanted to thank you all for your enthusiasm and appreciation for our little trail system.  It is definitely a labor of love for us and we love seeing the use grow each winter.  Crust riding should remain possible for a little while longer in the mornings and many of the trails will be rideable early in the day as well for as long as they retain snow cover and the nights are cold.  We'll be back at it next year!

Trail classifications

All of the trails in the Pearrygin Lake Sno-Park system (Pearrygin Lake State Park and Lloyd Ranch) are classified in one of two ways.  "All Users" is used for trails open to fatbikes, snowshoeing, walking, and skiing.  "Fatbikes Only" is used for trails that as the name implies are only open to fatbikes.  Please respect these designations and use the appropriate trails based on your mode of recreation to maximize everyone's enjoyment and the use of grooming resources.

Sno-Park funds provide grooming equipment, fuel, plowing, and staff at Pearrygin Lake

Although it can be frustrating to have to buy different passes for different trail systems and places, the Sno-Park program has been very good to Pearrygin Lake State Park and the winter trail program in the Pearrygin Area.  Six years ago, the park applied for an equipment grant and received enough to buy a new Ski-Doo Skandic snowmobile and grooming roller.  That snowmobile was a big step up from the 20yr old borrowed machines that had been used prior and improved the quality of the grooming on the trails dramatically.  That snowmobile now has over 5000 miles on it and is still going strong but heading into last winter it really needed a partner.  Another successful equipment grant application by Pearrygin Lake State Park in the summer of 2021 secured funds from the Sno-Park program to buy a new 2022 Ski-Doo Skandic that went into use last winter and also contributed to the cost of a snow proof shelter to park the snowmobiles in.  We've now got two reliable machines to enable us to provide great trails.  The Sno-Park program also pays for the fuel in the snowmobiles, grooming staff time, and parking lot plowing.  That's a really direct payback for the users of the Pearrygin winter trail system for fiftyish bucks a winter.
