Ride Hwy 20 to Washington Pass

 Saturdays in April - Winthrop, WA

Join us for a group ride up Highway 20 every Saturday until the road opens as WSDOT clears the road of snow. Enjoy beautiful views on a scenic stretch of highway without any vehicle traffic beyond the Silver Star gate. Ride departs Methow Cycle & Sport at 9am; we'll ride together (no drop) to the Mazama Corral Trailhead, where Mazama riders can meet the group at 10am. From there, ride at your own pace until we reach snow.

Intro to Bikepacking Overnighter to the Gardner Hut

Beginners encouraged, April 20-21, 2024 - Winthrop, WA

Supported by Bikepacking Roots, Cascade Endurance, and Rendezvous Huts

Ready to try out bikepacking for the first time or get out on an early season shakedown? With the support of Bikepacking Roots, Cascade Endurance, and Rendezvous Huts, we are proud to present a beginner-friendly, one night bikepacking trip to the Gardner Hut in the Rendezvous. Open to ALL levels and beginners encouraged! We'll meet at Methow Cycle and Sport at 10am, ride to the hut, and enjoy a beautiful evening under the stars complete with a campfire and s’mores. Chickadee MTB Meetups

All levels, Tuesdays at 5:30pm, starting May 6 - Winthrop, WA

Join Rachel Hong for a social, fun, group mountain bike ride every Tuesday at the Chickadee Trailhead. This is a friendly opportunity to just get out and ride together on our beautiful local trails. All are welcome; this will be a no-drop style ride so no one gets left behind. Rides will be about 1.5-2 hours. If you'd like, bring a refreshing beverage of choice for post-ride chillin'.

Bikepacking Overnighter to Black Pine Lake

All levels, May 18-19, 2024 - Winthrop, WA

Supported by Bikepacking Roots and Cascade Endurance

Hop on your bike for our second overnighter of the spring to Black Pine Lake. This is the perfect next step for beginner bikepackers who want to keep building their confidence. Open to ALL levels and beginners welcome! We’ll spend the day pedaling up to the lake where you can jump in for a swim and relax after some hard earned miles. And if you’ve still got gas in the tank, there will be an optional extension to continue riding up to the top of Buttermilk. More details and registration coming soon!


Cascade Endurance Presents: Goat Gravel Grinder Race

All levels, June 1, 2024 - Mazama, WA

With the support of Methow Cycle and Sport, Cascade Endurance presents an all-welcoming 35 mile, ~4500 ft gain gravel race on some fantastic NW terrain. Complete with aid stations along the way and a post-race par-tay! Need help with training? We have a race-specific training plan, and coaching options including a group training program to help you out.

Radical Roots MTB Women's 2 Day Skills Camp

June 15-16, 2024 - Winthrop, WA

This two-day skills camp is  designed for riders who identify as FTWN-B (Femme, Trans, Women,  Non-Binary) who are 18 years or older. All skill levels are welcomed to  this fun, safe, mega-progression session. We will work on skills and  drills in an open grassy area with our legendary progression props and  spend plenty of time riding the beautiful singletrack trails that help  make this area famous. Lunch is included so all you need to bring is  your bike and gear and a willingness to learn and have a great time. 

Coaches: Angi Weston, Em Ford and Nota Tsitsiragos of Radical Roots MTB

Net proceeds to benefit Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, Methow Chapter.

Three-Day Bikepacking Loop to Conconully

Some bikepacking experience recommended, June 28-30, 2024 - Winthrop, WA

Supported by Bikepacking Roots and Cascade Endurance

Take your bikepacking skills to the next level with a three day, two night bikepacking loop out to Conconully and back! This trip will be the final ride of our spring bikepacking series and offers a chance to test your skills on a longer route. This is an intermediate route with 10,000ft of climbing over nearly 90 miles, and some sections of rougher gravel roads. We’ll spend the first night in historic Conconully, where we can snag treats, resupply items, and perhaps even a burger. Day two will find us winding our way back up into the mountains before finding a camp at Tiffany Springs. The final day will be spent zooming back down toward Winthrop. Joe Brown and Julie Muyllaert, co-owners of Methow Cycle & Sport, offer individual and small group coaching for mountain bike and all-road skill building. We’re also happy to lead guided rides for your club, organization, or group of cycling friends.

Joe is a certified PMBIA coach with many years of competitive cycling under his belt. Julie is a cycling advocate, and also has extensive experience as a commuter and recreational cyclist.

Private Lessons

all abilities / one-on-one or bring some friends / ages 8+

$65/hour + each additional student $30/hour

  • One-on-one instruction is the quickest way to reach your riding goals
  • Select specific skills that you want to master or leave it to us to plan the lesson after a quick consultation and assessment
  • Two hour minimum. Recommended 3-4, depending on lesson goals
  • Do you have a few friends with the same riding goals? Bring them along too so you can practice and do homework together (max 3 students)

Small Group Lesson

all ability levels / 4-7 students / 4+ hours / one & two day options

$55/hour + each additional student $25/hour

  • Perfect for teams, clubs, and groups of friends who want to grow their riding together
  • Have more than 7 people? No problem! We can accommodate that too with a bit more planning - just let us know what you need
  • Options are virtually endless but we recommend a minimum 6 hours for 6+ students

The Methow Valley contains a dazzling array of single track mountain bike trails covering a variety of terrain.  There is something here for everybody and we love to share it with you.  Let us show you the way and help you make lasting memories of your visit here.

Methow Cycle & Sport is involved in school bike programs, kid’s bike rodeos, charity rides, cycling clubs, trail development and were instrumental in helping to start the Evergreen Bike Alliance – Methow Chapter. We believe cycling is an important part of a healthy community so you will also see us teaming up with the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, Winthrop Planning Commission, Methow Recycles, and Methow Valley Long-Term Recovery.

We hope to see you on the trails but we also look forward to working with our local organizations to help create a friendly and sturdy Methow Valley.
